Mr. Thinlay Dorjee hails from the tiny Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan, where his journey towards becoming a multifaceted entrepreneur and philanthropist began. He started his pre-primary and primary education at Mongar and Yadi ( Eastern Bhutan ) and then later completed his junior high school from Paro Gaupay ( Western Bhutan ). He then later went to India to continue his further studies in the enchanting locales of Kalimpong and Darjeeling in India, he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a focus on History and Geography from Vidya Sagar College of Education, Darjeeling, India.

His career commenced as a dedicated teacher in Bhutan, where he served as a civil servant from 1998 to 2001. However, driven by a passion for story telling and visual arts, Thinlay Dorjee transitioned into the Bhutanese film industry, marking the beginning of a prolific and impactful chapter in his professional journey. He emerged as a key figure in the industry, eventually co-founding the Bhutan Film Association and assuming executive roles within the organization for multiple terms.

Thinlay Dorjee’s influence and contributions to the Bhutanese film landscape are profound, having produced, directed, and acted in numerous acclaimed films. Notable titles such as “Chepai Bu,” “6 Boys,” “Hingtam,” “Khachem,” “49 Days,” “Sergyel,” and “Sungchop Magmi” showcase his diverse talents and enduring dedication to the craft of cinema thus given his new name as KHAN in the Bhutanese film industry therefore he is widely known by his nick name – Khan.

Beyond his achievements in entertainment, Thinlay Dorjee’s commitment to social welfare and community development sets him apart as a compassionate leader. His initiative, the Bhutan Schools Project (www.bhutanschoolsproject.org), exemplifies his altruistic spirit, aiming to uplift underprivileged children and support educational institutions and monasteries across Mongar District in Eastern Bhutan. Under his stewardship, the project has transformed the lives of countless individuals, injecting substantial resources and facilitating vital infrastructure developments, such as the construction of a  Monk’s hostel at Sangay Choling Monastry at Mukhung and Monk’s hostel at Tsakaling, Mongar. So far the project have supported 34 schools and 3 monastries under his leadership and Serzhong Lowersecondary School, Balam Primary School and Narang School are the major recipients of the grants from Estern Bhutan Schools Project.

In addition to his philanthropic endeavors, Thinlay Dorjee is a visionary entrepreneur at the helm of various successful ventures spanning hospitality management, education consultancy, agricultural enterprises, catering services, and international trade. As the CEO of Yarab Institute for Hospitality Management, Yarab Global Education Consultancy, MAY-I Pvt. Ltd., Sangka Farms, Sangka Soyabeans, Nazhoen Catering Services, RPL International (Australia), and Yarab Global India Pvt. Ltd., he exemplifies excellence in business leadership and innovation.

Furthermore, Thinlay Dorjee’s entrepreneurial acumen extends to the realm of consumer electronics, where he founded the renowned electronic brand, SANGKA, catering to the evolving needs of consumers worldwide.

Currently based in Darwin, Australia, Thinlay Dorjee continues to expand his horizons, recently completing postgraduate studies in Digital Marketing and International Visa Management.
